1. Introduction
Today Advisor ("Today Advisor", "we", "us") operates a global B2B marketplace connecting verified suppliers with business buyers. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data of business users and visitors of our website and services (collectively, the "Platform"). It applies to all information we collect from you when you sign up, list a business, post a requirement, purchase a subscription or service, or browse the Platform.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account & profile information
Full name, business email, phone and WhatsApp number, password (stored as a hashed value), preferred language, and role (buyer, seller, employee, sales, admin).
2.2 Business information
Company name, tagline, description, logo, cover image, primary category and subcategory, business type (Manufacturer / Trader / Exporter / Service Provider), year established, employee count, annual turnover band, website, and other public-facing profile fields.
2.3 Verification documents
For our Verified programme we collect GST identifiers (India), Import-Export Code, Certificate of Incorporation, or equivalent business registration numbers from your jurisdiction. These are stored securely, reviewed by our verification team, and used only to confirm the existence and status of your business.
2.4 Transactional and usage data
Requirement posts, inquiries sent and received, saved suppliers, subscription plan and quota usage, service requests (sourcing, audit, promotion), support tickets, page views, search queries, click patterns, device and browser information, IP address, and coarse geolocation derived from your IP.
2.5 Location data via Google Maps
When you use address autocomplete during signup or on service request forms, we send the characters you type to Google's Places / Geocoding APIs to return matching suggestions and to store a normalised address, city, country, latitude, and longitude for your business profile. Your use of Google's mapping services is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
2.6 Cookies and similar technologies
See our Cookie Policy for the categories of cookies and local-storage keys we use, and how you can control them.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Providing the Platform: to create your account, host your listings, match buyer requirements to sellers, deliver leads under your subscription, deliver services you have requested, and process support tickets.
- Verification & trust: to review submitted documents, issue or revoke a Verified badge, prevent fraud and abuse, and protect other users.
- Communication: to notify you of inquiries, requirement matches, quota usage, service updates, security alerts, and policy changes.
- Improving the Platform: to analyse usage patterns, prioritise features, tune category taxonomy, and improve AI-assisted matching and categorisation.
- Marketing: to send occasional product updates, guides, and offers relevant to your role. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link or by writing to us.
- Legal, safety, and enforcement: to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests from public authorities, and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. How We Share Your Data
- With matched counterparties. When a buyer sends an inquiry or a matched lead is routed to a seller, we share the relevant business identity and contact details with the receiving party so they can respond. Reasonable trade-relevant information from your public profile is also visible.
- With trusted service providers who process data on our behalf under written contracts and confidentiality obligations. Categories include:
- Cloud hosting, application, database, and file storage providers;
- Transactional email providers (for inquiry notifications and account emails);
- Payment processors (for subscription and service fee payments), which handle card and bank data directly and do not share full instrument details with us;
- Google (for Maps, Places, Geocoding, and analytics) and other analytics providers;
- AI providers used to power features such as auto-categorisation and requirement matching, where prompts and product/requirement text are transmitted for processing.
- For legal reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with law, enforce our Terms, respond to a lawful public-authority request, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Today Advisor, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers. If Today Advisor is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred subject to standard confidentiality and continuity of this Policy.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
5. International Transfers
Today Advisor operates globally. Your data may be processed in India, Singapore, the United States, the European Union, or other regions where our service providers operate. We use contractual safeguards with our processors and rely on your consent to these transfers when you use the Platform.
6. Data Retention
- Account data is retained for as long as your account is active, and for up to 3 years after closure for legal, tax, dispute-resolution, and anti-fraud purposes.
- Verification documents are retained for up to 5 years after the last verification decision, unless a longer period is required by law.
- Inquiry and lead records are retained for up to 3 years to support dispute resolution and quota reconciliation.
- Support ticket transcripts are retained for up to 2 years.
- Server logs are typically retained for 30 to 180 days.
7. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law — including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") in India — you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a summary of how it is processed;
- Request correction of inaccurate or outdated personal data;
- Request erasure of your personal data, subject to lawful retention obligations;
- Withdraw consent for optional processing (such as marketing) at any time;
- Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity;

To exercise these rights, email privacy@todayadviser.com from the email address associated with your account. We may verify your identity before acting on a request and will respond within the timelines required by law.
8. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures — including access controls, encryption in transit (HTTPS), row-level authorisation on our database, and least-privilege service accounts — to protect personal data. No system, however, is 100% secure. If you believe your account or your data has been compromised, please notify us immediately at security@todayadviser.com.
9. Children
The Platform is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the Platform or by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
11. Grievance Officer

Grievances relating to processing of personal data may also be sent to privacy@todayadviser.com.
This document is a general policy provided by Today Advisor for our B2B marketplace. It is a strong drafting starting point and is not a substitute for legal advice. We recommend a review by a lawyer familiar with Indian e-commerce and marketplace regulations before accepting real payments in your jurisdiction.
