FOB, CFR & CIF Calculator

Build an export price from EXW to FOB, CFR or CIF by adding origin costs, international freight and marine insurance. See the per-shipment and per-unit values instantly.

1. Shipment & currency

Start with your factory/product price before the origin costs you want to add below.

2. Origin costs to build FOB

3. International cost

For planning, CIF is solved mathematically when insurance is entered as a percentage of CIF.

This is a commercial planning calculator. Your contract, carrier quote, insurance policy and chosen Incoterm determine the actual amounts and responsibilities.

How the FOB, CFR & CIF calculator works

Enter the product value for the shipment, then add packing, inland transport, export clearance, documents and origin handling to build the FOB value. Add international freight to move from FOB to CFR. Finally, add marine insurance to reach CIF.

The calculator supports two insurance methods. You can enter a fixed insurance amount, or an insurance percentage applied to CIF. When insurance is a percentage of CIF, the calculator solves the circular relationship rather than simply adding the percentage to CFR.

FOBGoods plus the origin costs included in your FOB price build-up.
CFRFOB plus international freight, with insurance kept separate.
CIFCFR plus the insurance amount used in your commercial estimate.

FOB CIF Calculator FAQs

What is the difference between FOB, CFR and CIF?

In a pricing build-up, FOB covers the seller-side costs required to place the goods on board as specified by the applicable term. CFR adds the cost of freight to the named destination port, while CIF adds marine insurance as well. The exact obligations should always be checked against the current Incoterms rules and your contract.

How do I calculate CFR from FOB?

For a planning calculation, CFR is typically modeled as FOB plus the international freight applicable to the shipment.

How is CIF calculated when insurance is a percentage of CIF?

If insurance is entered as a percentage of CIF, the relationship is CIF = CFR + insurance and insurance = CIF ร— rate. The calculator solves this as CIF = CFR รท (1 โˆ’ rate), provided the rate is below 100%.

Can I calculate FOB price per unit?

Yes. Enter the shipment quantity and the calculator divides the total FOB, CFR and CIF values by the number of units to give comparable per-unit prices.

Does this calculator decide which Incoterm I should use?

No. It only builds indicative price scenarios. Your sales contract, buyer requirements, transport arrangement, risk allocation and current Incoterms rules determine the appropriate commercial term.
