Enter one carton’s dimensions, carton quantity and gross weight. The tool converts the shipment into volume and volumetric weight, compares that with actual gross weight, then uses the higher figure as the planning chargeable weight. How is air freight cost calculated?

A practical budgeting formula is chargeable weight × air freight rate, plus fuel and other applicable shipment charges. The final carrier invoice may also include minimums, handling, screening, documentation, customs or delivery charges.

What is chargeable weight in air freight?

Chargeable weight is generally the higher of actual gross weight and volumetric weight. For a common air-cargo planning factor, volumetric weight in kilograms is calculated from length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 6000.

Does the calculator give a live airline rate?

No. You enter the rate from your own quote, contract or market check. Air freight rates and surcharges vary by lane, service, weight break, carrier and shipment characteristics.

Can I use this for Indian exports?

Yes. Indian exporters can use it for pre-quote budgeting on air shipments. For the final payable amount, confirm the carrier or forwarder’s rate basis, chargeable-weight rounding and origin/destination charges.

Why can two forwarders quote different air freight costs?

The headline rate may be similar while minimum charges, fuel or security surcharges, documentation, handling, pickup, delivery, weight breaks and service levels differ. Compare the total quoted shipment cost, not only the advertised rate per kilogram.
